Dave Howard: Starship Materialized at Sceance
Photo: Depiction only, not the materialization in question.
From Dave: You may already be aware of the starship model that was materialized in a séance in the 1960s but just in case you are not, I’m providing a summary of the fascinating details. Record of the incident is found in the book Alec Harris, The Full Story of His Remarkable Physical Mediumship by Louie Harris and published in 2009 (available through Amazon). Here is my brief review posted on Amazon (and reprinted on my blog):
Mediumship is still alive
This is a remarkable book about the amazing materialization mediumship of Alec Harris, beautifully written by his wife Louie. The reader is treated to page after page of interesting recollections of a lifetime of service by this couple, most of it given freely to those who were grieving or in need of physical healing. It is a good companion book to Tom Harrison’s Life After Death: Living Proof. Both volumes present excellent descriptions of materializations in comparatively recent years which proves that the glory days of spiritualist phenomena are far from past as naysayers often allege.
The section of the book that appealed most to me was near the beginning where Louie described their introduction to spiritualism and the process of development of their mediumship gifts. This shows that there are still those who are “called” to serve in this capacity and that the road to development can still be taken. Reading further one will discover the immense satisfaction mediums! can enjoy when they see how their unselfish service helps those in need. I heartily recommend this book. It is a fascinating account, well written and beautifully produced.
Harris’s mediumship throughout his more than 40 years of service to spiritualists was traditional in that materializations, voices, and other manifestations were all from spirits of those who had previously lived on this earth – with ONE EXCEPTION. This was a shocker to the Harris couple and others that sat with them and I quote from page 203:
“Hyman Klein came regularly [to the circles]. At one of the circles which he attended a strange thing happened. A tall spirit materialized wearing a mask which covered his whole face leaving only his eyes visible. This figure approached Hyman and taking him by the hand led him to the cabinet. Then in a serious voice he said, ‘I want to tell you that flying saucers do exist, although your world is skeptical of any reports of such. But I say to you that they will one day be an established fact, and will arrive on your planet before man destroys himself, but the time is not yet ripe.’ [this happened in the 1960s I think]
“With that he [the spirit] turned and disappeared into the darkness of the cabinet only to return a few seconds later carrying a large model of a flying saucer which stood several feet in height, in fact it was taller than he was himself. “This,” he announced, “is the type of machine men from space will use when they come. This is only a model. But this is what it will look like; this is what they will travel in when they come, these people from space.” We all inspected this strange contraption and were fascinated by it.
“The account goes on to say that Hyman was interested in UFOs but nobody else in the circle knew that. Also, ‘As the cabinet was very small and only able to contain the medium sitting in his chair, we were mystified how there had been enough room to include a fully materialized man plus that enormous model… It is truly amazing the things that can be done with ectoplasm for that is what it was, an ectoplasmic model which had dematerialized as quickly as it had materialized.’”
I’m convinced that the mediumship of Harris was above reproach and throughout his career he was never accused of wrongdoing. I hope this account will be of interest to you.
Peace and love,
